2025 retrospective

Another year flies by... once again, I'm writing a short blog to reflect on that last twelve months. In terms of making stuff, it's been a quieter year; I've done a bunch of slow work on several projects that haven't seen the light of day, and released three games with Domino Club again:


Outside of my own games, I continue to work on one at the AAA studio I work for; this year saw another round of layoffs that I was an employee representative during, with the unenviable task of negotiating on behalf of my colleagues. I shan't/can't say more on that other than that it really drained me for a while. Seeing many friends and acquaintances at other studios go through similar things as the industry continues to flail and struggle is disheartening; but we persist.

Outside of game development, I've kept up learning Japanese; it's slow going but I'm able to read and write a bit more, and have held a few (very slow) conversations via text. I got into the hobby of collecting & photographing ball jointed dolls, which I now have two of; I have a seperate social media account I use for practicing Japanese by posting about/as them with pictures. It feels a little strange to embrace an on-the-surface childish hobby as a woman in my 30s, but who am I kidding - no way I could have afforded these as a kid.

Otherwise, I've continued to live, I've gained several kg to become squishier, I've watched and read a realm of stuff I've enjoyed. The world continues to spin. Have a good 2026 everyone!
